If you have had the car from new and know its service history then 40,000 miles is the norm. But it may also depend on the engine type fitted, some don't need changing until you hit 70,000 miles. If you don't know the service history and the car has quite a high mileage, CHANGE IT! Far better to pay £150-£250 on a belt change than have to pay for a new top end if it breaks. This is classed as an "unsafe" engine , meaning if the belt breaks the pistons WILL hit the valves and cause a great deal of damage.
Should be a timing chain, not a belt on a C220 Diesel
The second cambelt change on a Peugeot 306 diesel should typically be done at around 100,000 miles (160,000 kilometers) or every 5 years, whichever comes first. It's essential to refer to the vehicle's owner's manual for specific recommendations, as maintenance schedules can vary based on the engine type and model year. Regular checks are advised to ensure the cambelt remains in good condition.
The cambelt on a Peugeot 306 diesel should typically be changed every 60,000 to 80,000 miles, or every 5 years, whichever comes first. It's important to consult the owner's manual or a qualified mechanic for specific recommendations based on the engine variant and driving conditions. Regular maintenance is crucial to prevent potential engine damage.
Petrol, 40,000 miles, 4 years. (ignore the service book, which may say 80,000 or 8 years, as most won't actually last this long) Diesel depends on engine type. Vauxhall diesel engine 80,000 miles, 8 years. Isuzu Diesel engine 100,000 miles, 10 years. 2.2 petrol, and 2.0 diesel are cam chain, and should not need changing.
60,000 MILES is about right for ANY engine with a Rubber belt.
The cam belt should be changed at 54000 miles or when the vehicle is 5 years old whichever is soonest.
That engine does not have a timing belt, it is chain driven and should last the lifetime of the vehicle.
I take it you mean 1.2 16V ? It doesnt have a cambelt , it has a cam chain , which "should" last the life of the engine, there is no recommended change schedules of the chain. If it gets noisy....change it quick !
If it is a 1.9 td it is a cambelt. If it either a 2.0 citd or a 2.2 citd engine should be a camchain. If you dont know engine size look under bonnett at cover of cambelt/chain area and if it is plastic it will be a belt but if it is alloy it is a chain. Hope this helps
Listed in your owner's manual.
The cambelt on a Skoda Octavia should be changed between 60,000 to 100,000 miles or every 5 to 7 years, whichever comes first. It's crucial to follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule to prevent potential damage to the engine in case of cambelt failure.
