Well that question is too general. What year and what make is the vehicle? Is it a brand new key fob? If it is brand new it may need to be programed to the vehicle. The battery may be dead in the fob. The fob may also have a broken contact inside of it. I recommend taking your key fob and vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis.

I accidently put 2 auto start key fob's through the wash-I was told by friends to have the key fob sit in a bowl of uncooked rice. The rice will absorb the moisture. I did this for a day or so and they both worked-I didn't even have to replace the batteries!
If you press the unlock button two times it should unlock all the doors.
Get in touch with a Rover dealer, tell them the problem, they can find out the code for your lock on the door. That way you will not need your fob to open the doors or immobilise it.
To unlock the passenger doors on a 2003 Land Rover, you can use the key fob by pressing the unlock button. If the fob is unavailable, insert the key into the passenger door lock and turn it to unlock. Additionally, you can also unlock the doors from the inside using the central locking switch located on the driver's door panel.
