Antenna amplifier is located under drive side c - pillar . this is the trim going from roof (headliner) down to rear hat shelf . theirs a small cap with screw underneath . remove inner door edge molding at c-pillar and pull c=piller towards center of car and up . the amplifier is bright green you cant miss it . its held to frame with one 10MM nut.
A passive antenna is an antenna that is not powered by an amplifier.
An active antenna is powered antenna, this includes a RF amplifier and a power supply so it must be "plugged in" somewhere. A standard "passive" antenna has no amplifier.
An active antenna has a amplifier built in, a standard antenna does not. AKA powered antenna.
it depends on existing amplifier or not , if after antenna there's an amplifier it called active else it called passive which less sensitive that active .
The flow chart follows this pattern; Transceiver to amplifier then out to swr meter, then into antenna tuner then out to antenna.
I believe it is located inside the rear bumper. The antenna on the roof of the car is for the tele aid/telephone.
