You need to use the instrument panel in the car to check the oil internally when your engine is turned off. This will tell you if you are ok or not.
merc e 270 cdi service
The 2004 Mercedes-Benz ML 270 CDI is equipped with a timing chain, not a cam belt. Timing chains are generally more durable and require less frequent replacement than cam belts. It's important, however, to ensure regular maintenance checks to keep the engine running smoothly.
You don't state the year of your CDI...but my guess is that there is no dipstick on your car. The more recent models do not have dipsticks, and the oil level has to be determined from the computer controlled LCD panel on the console...I have a 2005 c240...no dipstick...

Yes, the 2004 Mercedes-Benz 270 CDI is equipped with a timing chain rather than a cam belt. Timing chains are generally considered more durable and require less frequent replacement compared to timing belts. However, it's still important to maintain the vehicle properly to ensure the longevity of the timing chain and related components. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific maintenance guidelines.
Itshould be listed in your owners manual under maintainence

The service indicator light, in your Mercedes ML 270, can be reset by holding in the engine oil life button. The engine oil life will go to 100 percent. The service indicator light should go off.
