Engine coolant temperature sensor circuit short to ground
The 2003 Volkswagen Golf has an inline 4 engine.
In a VW Golf MK3, the temperature sensor is typically located on the engine block, near the thermostat housing. It is usually positioned on the cylinder head or near the coolant outlet, depending on the specific engine variant. The sensor is responsible for monitoring the engine temperature and sending data to the engine control unit (ECU). Always consult the vehicle's service manual for precise location details specific to your model.
The coolant temperature sensor checks the coolant to let you know if overheating occurs. It also can send signals to the computer system to adjust the engine settings such as air/fuel mixture as needed to be more efficient based on engine temperature.
The 2003 Volkswagen Golf has a 2.0 L base engine size.
The 2003 Volkswagen Golf's engine produces 115 hp @ 5200 rpm.
The 2003 Volkswagen Golf's engine produces 122 ft-lbs. @ 2600 rpm.

You need to get it scanned first , It could be a number of different things including 1. Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 2. Lambda Sensor ( there are 2 Bank 1 is the one closest to engine Bank 2 is the one furtherest away from engine ) 3.MAP sensor ( Manifold Absolute Pressure ) located near to the dipstic tube at the rear and on the side of the engine , as i said you need to get it scanned.
