The oil filter sits at an angle at the front right-hand side of the engine as you look at it. It has a black bell shaped cap on it with a black moulded hex nut on top. The cap and nut are all one moulded unit. The nut is not separate and the whole cap will spin when you loosen it by turning the nut - just screw it off and replace the filter and seal then re-tighten.

The oil pressure switch on a Citroën Xsara Picasso is typically located near the oil filter, on the engine block. It can be found on the side or rear of the engine, depending on the specific engine configuration. Accessing it may require moving some components or using a socket wrench to reach it comfortably. Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for precise details and instructions.

Oil pressure is low. Check oil level and condition (is the oil black and thin? If so, change oil and filter) If this doesn't fix it, the engine might be badly worn or the oil pump may have a fault. Have your local garage take a look.
To change the oil filter on a Citroën Xsara Picasso, first, ensure the engine is cool and safely elevated. Locate the oil filter, typically found near the oil pan, and use an oil filter wrench to unscrew it, allowing any remaining oil to drain into a container. Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter, then install it by hand until snug. Finally, refill the engine oil through the oil filler cap and check the oil level with the dipstick.

For a 2001 Citroën Xsara Picasso, it's generally recommended to change the engine oil and filter every 10,000 to 15,000 kilometers (about 6,200 to 9,300 miles) or every 12 months, whichever comes first. However, if the vehicle is frequently driven in harsh conditions, such as stop-and-go traffic or extreme temperatures, more frequent changes may be advisable. Always consult the owner's manual for specific guidelines tailored to your vehicle's engine type.
