To adjust the idle on a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 380SL, first, ensure the engine is at normal operating temperature. Locate the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body, which can typically be found near the intake manifold. Turning the screw clockwise will increase the idle speed, while turning it counterclockwise will decrease it. After making adjustments, recheck the idle speed with a tachometer to ensure it falls within the recommended range of 600-700 RPM.
