In the 1997 Jaguar XJ6, the valet switch is typically located in the glove compartment. This switch is used to disable certain features of the vehicle, such as the trunk release and the alarm system, when the car is being parked by a valet. To access it, simply open the glove compartment and look for a small toggle or button. Always refer to the owner's manual for precise information regarding its location and use.
If the key won't open the trunk of a 1997 Jaguar XJ6 but the electrics are functioning, you can try using the valet switch inside the glove compartment to release the trunk latch. Alternatively, you can access the trunk through the rear seats by folding them down, which may allow you to reach the trunk release mechanism directly. If these methods don't work, consider consulting a professional locksmith or a Jaguar specialist for assistance.
Valet mode disables the electric trunk release and the "home link functions" for security reasons when valet parking. The "valet key" will not open the trunk
Convenience Valet was created in 1997.
Try under the dash near the glove box.
The inertia switch on a 1997 Jaguar XK8 is typically located in the trunk, near the right rear fender area. It may be mounted on the side panel or near the rear lamp assembly. To reset the switch after an accident or incident, simply press the button on the top of the switch. Always consult the vehicle’s manual for precise location and instructions.
Make sure you're not using the valet key. It will not open the trunk, center console armrest, or the glove compartment. It will only have one side cut, with the other completely uncut.
The Valet switch is located in the center console storage bin. If you have tried that and you still find that the trunk will not open with the fob or you need to use the key every time to open it you may have a problem in the wiring harness. It is very common in the X300 series jaguar, The wiring harness snakes under the RHS trunk hinge and a break may occur here causing the trunk not to open when you press the fob or the internal trunk switch.
