It is possible to change the timing belt on your 1983 Porsche 944 yourself, It is a difficult and lengthy process and requires a car lift, so you may want to have this done by professionals.
The thermostat on a 1983 Porsche 944 is located at the engine's front, near the water pump. To access it, you'll need to remove the intake manifold and the thermostat housing. The thermostat itself is housed within this housing, which controls the flow of coolant to the engine. Make sure to replace the gasket when reinstalling the housing to prevent leaks.
The Porsche 944 appeared in 1982 as a brawnier update to the 1975-1988 Porsche 924. Porsche began exporting the 944 to North America the following year. It was introduced in the US as a 1983 1/2 model, and was a 'benchmark' automobile for other sports cars to be compared to for the next decade.
