If a 1993 Land Rover Discovery is stuck in a low ratio gear, check the transmission fluid levels. If the fluid levels check out okay, the transmission may be experiencing a jammed gear.
On non dipstick type transmission you cannot check the fluid level directly, but there is a bolt front of the transmission sump, unscrew and you can refill to that level.
To check the transmission fluid level on a 2001 Land Rover Discovery, start with the vehicle on a level surface and the engine running. Locate the transmission dipstick, which is usually found near the rear of the engine bay, and remove it to wipe it clean. Reinsert the dipstick fully, then remove it again to check the fluid level, which should be between the "hot" marks if the engine is warm. If the fluid is low, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.

For a 1994 Land Rover Range Rover, you should use Dexron III automatic transmission fluid. It's important to ensure that the fluid meets the specifications required for your vehicle's transmission type. Always check the owner's manual for any specific requirements or recommendations before refilling or changing the fluid. Additionally, consider checking for any leaks or signs of wear in the transmission system.
Check your car manual.
To fill the automatic transmission fluid in a Rover 216i, first ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is warm. Locate the transmission dipstick, remove it, and use a funnel to add the recommended type of automatic transmission fluid through the dipstick tube. Check the fluid level using the dipstick and add more fluid if necessary, ensuring it falls within the marked range. Finally, run the engine and cycle through the gears to circulate the fluid, then recheck the level and adjust if needed.
The 1996 Chevy Camaro automatic transmission has a fluid capacity of 7.3 quarts. You can check the automatic transmission fluid level with the transmission dipstick.
Mine is a 2003 Disco TD5 with automatic transmission and it does NOT have a dipstick. There are two small stoppers/plugs on the transmission. One is for draining the oil (when changing it) and the other is to check the level. Good luck! Alex.
Check your Automatic Transmission fluid level
'99 and up Discovery's do not have one. You check it from the side of the pan (there is a little bolt/plug.) If it runs out it's full. It's a huge pain if you don't have a lift, the dealers charge way too much for this but it's cheaper than the cost of a new transmission.
AT can mean Automatic Transmission.
