Revs on a Vauxhall Zafira can fluctuate due to several factors, including issues with the engine management system, problems with the throttle body, or a malfunctioning idle air control valve. Additionally, vacuum leaks or fuel delivery issues can affect engine performance, leading to unstable RPMs. Regular maintenance and diagnostics can help identify and resolve these problems. If the issue persists, consulting a professional mechanic is advised.
Turn the throttle, revs go up. Let to, revs go down.
There are several reasons why your car may be overheating. Check the thermostat to be sure it isn't stuck. If the car revs up and down, the timing may need to be adjusted.

Gear changes are determined after how fast the engine is turning. For each gear there are set limits for which engine revs that are allowed. if the revs go high, the transmission changes up a gear, if the gears go low it drops down a gear.
Try servicing the air filter.

When mowing it will idle up and down because of the amount and thickness of grass you are cutting. This is because the blades will struggle cutting thick grass so the engine needs more revs to keep the blades running at a constant speed and that is also why your mower may slow down because it has used the majority of revs to cut the grass and their are not many revs left to keep the wheels spinning The up and down revving could also be caused by a dirty/clogged air filter.
Check your radiator is full

Every time you engage the clutch, the clutch disengages from the transmission/engine. Which in term engine revs up, until you disengage the clutch.
Yes it does, mine has exactly the same problem, can be the MAF sensor, fuel pump problems or the idle sensor. just changed the MAF on mine saw some improvements but still revs up and down occasionaly
