deflate your tires two times in 15 minutes to reset pcm, then disconnect seat belt for 5 minutes and reinstall , this is the only fix unless you get a new pcm which is not logical
Idle air control? Fuel pump? Coil?
it may be as simple as a bad or weak battery of a bad idle air control motor
I believe you need to drive it so the ECM relearns it's idle.
ford focus stalling at idle but not cutting off the check engine light is on please help so i dont get rip off thanks
As strange as it may sound, If your battery is old and getting weak, it can cause that stalling problem with the Dakotas. Your IAC may also need to be cleaned/replaced. Good luck ........
it could be the your idle is set to low and your car is on the verge of stalling out (TURN UP IDLE JUST A TOUCH )
idle control valve is shot!!
The idle is not adjustable, it is computer controlled, which means the idle is not the problem. Look for a check engine light.
Check your idle, your idle might be too low so it is stalling your car.
After changing out the battery, if the vehicle stalls at idle, it could indicate several issues. The new battery may not be properly connected, leading to electrical problems. Additionally, the stalling could be caused by a vacuum leak, fuel delivery issues, or problems with the ignition system that were not related to the battery. It's advisable to check all connections and conduct a diagnostic to identify the root cause.
Same thing happened to me yesterday in my 2006 Vibe. My car was dead and I had to get a new battery. Right after getting the new battery it started stalling in idle. I took it to the dealer today, and ironically it ran great on the way there. The mechanic said that after changing the battery, the computer had to relearn. He said he could run a systems check but didn't want me to have to spend the money as he was sure that it would be okay. Well, he was right, my car has been running fine, no more stalling or rough idle. It's nice to run into an honest mechanic.
Use the idle speed adjustment screw to set the idle speed as low as possible without stalling. http://store.chainsawr.com/
