Not sure but at the moment my mechanic seems to think its the lock mechanism that is worn & wants replacing.
The windows dont work because the car thinks the door is open. With mine the interior light stays on aswell, again pointing to the car thinking the door is open.
Not a definite answer but a bit of a coincidence that someone has a similar problem to me.
