how difficult is it to change a clutch on a freelander 51 reg td4 can any one give me any tips
Hydraulic Master, slave, and pipe work are all one unit individual parts are not available for the freelander.
cotton fabrics and asbestos
theres no clutch cable on the freelander. its an hydraulic system with automatic adjustment. if its going into gear and the clutch pedal feels ok, then more than likely the gearbox is shot
asbestos fibres were used in the making of friction linings such as brake pads, clutch plates etc. It is now banned in the UK
On a 2002 Land Rover Freelander TD4, the clutch fluid reservoir is typically located on the driver's side of the engine bay, near the back of the engine compartment. It is usually a small, translucent plastic container with a cap labeled for clutch fluid. To access it easily, you may need to remove any covering components or parts obstructing your view. Always ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is cool when checking the fluid level.
stuff called babbit. The same stuff that your brake pads are made of. also known as asbestos really danger for your health

Mine is still original at 200000 plus
That would really depend on how the car was driven, if it was driven really hard the clutch would proberly go alot quicker. I have a T sport on 45k miles and original clutch is still fine, you shouldn't have to change the clutch until it starts to slip.
As long as you don't ' ride the clutch' it is not uncommon to go 100,000 + miles. Trucks will be less if they are worked hard. If you know what you're doing they last a long, long time. My friend has a truck with about 110k on it and it still has the original clutch.
