In terms of categorization the most dangerous tornado would be one rated EF5, (formerly F5) as these are the strongest and most destructive. Other factors that can make a tornado more dangerous include rapid forward speed which reduces warning time. Rapid development and/or intensification have a similar effect. A tornado may be rain-wrapped or surrounded by rain, which can make it impossible to see. A tornado may also be hidden in the darkness of night, and strike when people are asleep. A number of the deadliest tornadoes had at least two of these factors going for it.
