Are parents to blame for moral decay in society?

Parents are responsible for children's behavior as long as the children are minors. Parents are responsible for teaching their children right from wrong. Parents are responsible for assessing consequences when their child does something wrong to teach the child a lesson.

In a way, I say yes. But you also have to look at individual teens and decipher what other factors are leading to their misbehaviour. Peer pressure, media, poor upbringing (not necessarily by parents) can all be grouped as factors leading to wayward teens.

Teens get impact from their family, school, social media, friends etc.Not really sure what moral decadence you are talking about but society change with generations. 90% have sex before marriage today and it has been like that since they started to study it in the 1940's (in the US). Teens don't have more sex than before but there's more talk about it and the news flow is much bigger today. The parents are probably the ones they spend least time with and either that makes it worse or better depending on parents.What one think is moral decadence is also not moral decadence to someone else.

Some degree of blame can be assigned to parents if they failed to be good parents and failed to prepare their children well for the problems that they would face later in life, however, it is also true that when we become adults, we are all basically in charge of and responsible for our own lives, whether we had good parents or not. It is possible to be a better person than your parents were, if you want to. And of course, some blame can be placed on the greater society, which also has a role in how children grow up, how they are educated, how they are protected from abuse, and so forth. There are many factors that influence how any given child turns out later in life.

Every member of a society has some responsibility for what happens in that society, which includes moral decay. Parents have a responsibility to be good parents, and children, teenagers, etc., also have responsibilities to be good children, teenagers, etc. Everyone is responsible for their own life and is also responsible for the effect that they have on other people. I will also note that your concept of moral decay is not necessarily the same as that of others. Exactly what falls under the heading of "the pursuit of happiness" and what is moral decay, is open to a lot of debate. Although I do agree that moral decay exists in society.
