Can a father lose visitation rights if he becomes abusive towards his current mate?

I would hope so but the laws probably vary considerably depending on what Country or State you live in. I would recommend finding a family law attorney and asking for a free consultation. Your county government may be able to help with recommendations for free consultations, as well. The father of my children is now in a new relationship (the past year) and has pretty much abandoned the children. He hasn't tried to see them since I got a restraining order against him in March. He says he can't see them because of the restraining order but the judge purposely made the order only applying to me and not the children. She even pointed this out in court but I guess it is just not that important to him to see them right now. My fear is that at some point he and his new girlfriend are going to try to get unsupervised visitation. I know he has not changed because why would he have changed - abusers don't change unless they seek help and I know he has not (because he asserts that *I* am the one that "emotionally" abused him...etc. - not true but the victim part gets him lots of points with his friends and family so he is playing it to the max right now). When he does call the children, he tells them he loves them SOOO much and wants to see them SOOO much but when I suggest supervised visits at a place nearby our house, he makes excuses as to why that wouldn't work (too far from where he has moved to, too expensive, too inconvenient, not necessary, etc.). Whatever you, DON'T GIVE UP. Your children need you. Don't abandon them to him. Don't turn your head.
