Yelling is abusive Yelling does not mean the person is a deliberate abuser. An abuser wears the other person down. A person yelling could just be angry at that moment. It does not necessarily mean they are being abusive at that moment. It could be a person at their wits end. A person who has received bad news for instance. We have ALL yelled at some point in our lives. Use your own discretion when reading advice here. Calling someone spineless in an insulting manner refers to having no backbone or being cowardly.
I've always found that it's unhealthy to stay in relationships with those who are verbally abusive. But it's equally important to learn to forgive. Forgiveness gives you freedom from bitterness. And even though you might forgive someone, they may continue to be verbally abusive. When that happens, it's better to keep short and simple contact with that person.
Vituperation means to criticize or verbally abuse someone in a harsh and angry manner. It involves using bitter and abusive language to express strong disapproval or condemnation towards someone or something.
That's not abuse. It's an argument. I disagree with the above comment. If a man calls a woman fat, ugly or stupid it is considered Abuse. The name calling makes her feel inferior. In this case A Wife calling her husband a Thief initially is an attack on his Character & Honesty. If he asked for an apology & she states "You were stealing", Her reply is intended to hurt & it is insulting. Calling someone a Thief is The Lowest of Insults.I believe anytime someone, "REACCUSES" It is deliberate & intended to hurt & IT IS THEREFORE ABUSIVE. Selica

It's pretty much bullying someone or threatening them without physical contact, such as threats and abusive language. You could verbally abuse someone by teasing them about certain features of themselves.
No, in general you cannot. However, if someone is spreading lies about you, either in print or verbally, you may have a valid claim of libel or slander. Consult an attorney

"Lopi" is a term used in Icelandic to refer to someone who is clumsy or awkward. It is not necessarily meant to be insulting, but more of a light-hearted way to describe someone's lack of coordination.
Yes. Verbal abuse is when someone says something to you that you can't say back to them. It's not what some calls you...it's what you answer to.
