Convince your parents to get your ear pierced?

If your parents arent ready for you to do this. Respect their wishes and wait until you can make this decision without there permission. Like when you no longer live under there roof. I know this may seem outdated but show your parents that you do respect them by abiding to their request. They have apparently raised a child that has a conscience if your asking before doing and that means they did a good job now its your turn to thank them by listening. If this really means alot to you the only way to get them to change their mind is by overcoming their objections. I dont know what they are but you do so start from there and if it becomes too much of an issue, because this is not something to have family discord about, let it ride. Why would you want to get pierced? Do you feel that having piercings is the only way to be accepted? Piercings don't make you cool. They just show that you are weak and give in to peer pressure. Why would you want 'friends' that only accept you if you have piercings? Your parents are much more experienced in life. Ask them the pros and cons. Don't rely on your friend's opinions. They don't have any real life experience. Trust you parents. They aren't trying to ruin your life. They aren't trying to keep you from having fun. They love you and want the best for you. Trust their advice, and their experience. Your parents guidance can be trusted more than the advice of some teenagers. Teenagers know much less than they think they do. Try to find out why they won't let you do it. If you can't, tackle the argument from all sides.

First of all, be sure to make your argument in a calm, educated way. If you scream or pout, they just won't listen and you come off immature.

Show them research you've done as to how you can keep your ears healthy and take responsibility. Show them you have the maturity to take care of it.

Explain that you'll pay for the procedure and earrings.

Give examples of other (good, responsible) friends who have ear piercings and take care of them.

• If you use the word 'dude' to your parents it shows them how immature you are. Let your parents know that it is a fade and all generations had fades regarding hairstyles; clothing, etc., and your generation is into piercing. There is no reason you cannot get off your butt and do chores for your parents or, if old enough get a part-time job and earn the money to get the piercing done.

1. All Body Piercing studios are regulated and work under regional and local health and city licensing regulations. What you may want may not be legal in your area so call and check with your local studios.
2. Age limits can vary from city to city and state/province to state/province, contact your local body piercing studios (under the yellow pages "Body Piercing" ) they will tell you what the age limits are for your area.
3. Identification is aways needed (Birth certificate, Student card, Drivers license) Parental consent is consent from the legal parents (Mother or Father). Grand parents, Sister, Brother, Second Cousin twice removed doesn't cut it sorry. Unless they are your legal guardians assigned by the courts and have documented proof or this, it just won't work.
4. Prices for piercings vary from shop to shop and city to city. Be sure you phone and ask them what the total price is including any *aftercare solutions they may try to sell you (* Professional body piercing studios won't try to sell you aftercare solution, they will recommend cleansers and soaps but that's it if you want it they will sell it but they will not force you to buy it.)
5. Do your research, check these places out and find a studio that you are comfortable with, talk to the piercer and discuss you wishes. If at any time you feel like you are being ignored or rushed leave, find somewhere else. Good shops will be busy, but they will also want you to book your appointment, this way they have there full attention on you not everyone else who is asking questions (that's a good thing).

Convincing parents means a lot of study, research and learning on your part before you can talk to them about getting anything done. You need to show them you can be responsible for yourself and make good decisions. So read the above and start there and then once you have the information sit down with them an try having a calm talk about it, but be ready to hear the word no (no just means you haven't done enough to convince them to your way of thinking). But stay calm and don't lose your temper, that will sink you right away.
