It's possible, but think hard and face reality. If he loved you he wouldn't be running away from you, but to you. This guy wants his freedom and doesn't sound like the type of guy that can handle long term commitment and doesn't seem to mind hurting a lot of people along the way. I'd like to add, in all of this, how about what his wife has had to endure, not to mention his kids. He's needs his butt kicked! Marcy
Talking about issues with your partner is the best thing you can do, resolving issues could save a failing relationship.
You can only gain relationship commitment and trust with someone who has abandonment issues by spending a lot of positive time with them. You must give them a pattern to follow and an expectation that you will not leave them.
You cannot divorce parents, but you can leave your dad for your mum, or you can leave your mum for your dad.

Stand up for yourself and leave her. Or stop the abuse by defending yourself (try not to hit back, if it can be done) or seek intervention from police or spousal abuse groups. The best thing to do (and it's not that easy, I know) is to leave the relationship if it is abusive. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not retaliate, you will regret doing that for the rest of your life. I also agree with the answer above, quite honestly, no relationship can survive what you are going through you would be best to leave now and move on. Make sure you get a solicitor to represent you through the divorce.
