As of today, the Mother and Father are supposed to be equal.

This is not exactly so in many countries where the Mother is most always the preferred parent.

From now on, only the term parent will be used.

A parent is expected to Protect, Feed, Clean, Teach.

Protection: Involves housing. Protecting against dangers, some times them selves.

Feeding: Everybody need food.

Cleaning: At a young age, the children can not be expected to do this them selves.

Teaching: Schools provide teaching, but it is ultimately the parents responsibility to teach their children.
