Regarding a person's "walk with the Lord"... The Bible says:
"Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" (Amos 3:3)
In order for us to "walk with the Lord"... we must come into agreement with our Sovereign's Commandments in our heart and in our deeds.
"Ye are My friends, IF YE DO WHATSOEVER I COMMAND YOU." (John 15:14)
And in order to know what He commands of us... we have to "read His book," the Bible. He inspired its Words to be written down to reveal Himself to us, that we might obtain His Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding.
"The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom: and the Knowledge of the Holy [One] is Understanding." (Prov.9:10)
"SEEK YE OUT OF THE BOOK OF THE LORD, and READ..." (Isa.34:16).
"Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before Mine eyes; cease to do evil; learn to do well; seek Judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
"Come now, and LET US REASON TOGETHER, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. IF YE BE WILLING and OBEDIENT, ye shall eat the good of the land..." (Isa.1:16-19).
"Walking closer with the Lord" is a "learning process" that only comes with "practice." Like a toddler learning to walk; you stumble, you fall, you get back up and keep trying... and don't give up.
Familiarize yourself with His Word... and pray always to become "willingly obedient" to His Commandments... to become God's "friend."
"...thou, Israel, art My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of ABRAHAM MY FRIEND." (Isa.41:8)
"Because that Abraham obeyed My voice, and kept My charge, My Commandments, My statutes, and My laws." (Gen.26:5)
In order for us to "walk with the Lord" [at all]... we have to start agreeing with what He says; instead of arguing about it and fighting Him on everything. If we can bring ourselves to do that... "agree with Him" -- then "the walk" begins... the "closeness" follows and the "friendship" grows.
It means to draw nearer to something; get closer.

When one truly loves the fellow beings without any expectation in turn he will be so near to God.
Nearer My God To Thee was the last song played on the Titanic before she sunked
It will increase as the days draw nearer for the due day.
Mountains symbolize a nearness to God. The taller the mountain the nearer you come to God's kingdom.
Nearer my god to thee.
The phrase "Nearer, My God, to Thee" is actually the title of a 19th-century Christian hymn. It was written by Sarah Flower Adams. This song was played in the movie "Titanic" when the ship was sinking.
No one knows for sure. There have been claims for several tunes, including "Londonderry Air," "Nearer My God, to Thee," a sentimental waltz called "Songe d'Automne" ("Dream of Autumn"), or the hymn "Autumn." The most likely candidate is probably "Nearer My God, to Thee," since that was the conductor's favorite hymn and he had mentioned at an earlier time that if he were aboard a sinking ship he would assemble the musicians and have them play either "O God Our Help in Ages Past" or "Nearer My God to Thee."See Titanic: Destination Disaster: The Legends and the Reality, by John P.
