If you genuinely regret the affair and you and your wife are still together and trying to work through this, then you just need to give her time. I'm sorry that it sounds such a cliche, but it's true.

You can't rush her into forgiving you and move on, because it really isn't that simple. She is hurt, angry and feels betrayed. The marriage that you had before no longer exists the way it did, because your actions changed the way that she sees you. I'm sorry, but it's the truth. If you are still together, she obviously still loves you, but feels unable to project this at the moment. From a woman's point of view, she still thinks of you with the other woman and is thinking back to the way you lied and betrayed her so easily. Women have a very hard time separating the sex from love, particularly in a marriage.

Please give your wife time and space. Be there for her and continue to show her how much you love her. Try to arrange a short break for you both and spend time together on your own. It feels at first as though you are banging your head against a wall, but it will work out if you keep with it.
