How can you tell if someone cares about you?

That is a difficult without knowing more about you. What if I am insecure and have very low self esteem??? Will my insecurity drive me to a crazed desperate attempt for acceptance by pursuing you? Is your question based on the possibility that you are insecure about yourself and feel the need for validation throught the acceptance of a special someone? Is this person giving you attention in hopes the "bait" will be taken, by you, so that they may put out another. Perhaps, one of the ways that has more weight than many in gauging this very common question is,,, what does this person gain from showing their care for you. If you gain a lot, over a proven course of time and circumstance, and they gain little or nothing,,, they are serving you, they are sacrificing their time and effort, you just might be onto something!

If they don't like you, they're not really your friends, are they? If people don't like you they will ignore you or otherwise not include you in their plans with others. In some cases they might actually hurt your feelings by saying mean things to you. In either case, you must remember the Golden Rule: do unto others as you would have done to you. Since they are hurting your feelings you can be sure they would not want someone hurting their feelings. Your best bet is to find true friends by being true to yourself. Get involved in hobbies and/or interests that you like to do and you'll meet people who like the same things. It's a great platform from which to start a friendship.

When they stand by you when no one supports you (for the right reasons).

When they do not support you for wrong things.

When they give in their best to get back a smile on the depressed face of yours.

I think the whole thing revolves around respect and love. If they respect your decisions and opinions even when they disagree. If they love you enough to let you maintain your own boundaries and express yourself freely. If they know who you really are and appreciate you for yourself, not what they can get from you..... Then they are real friends.

you know when someone cares about you when they not only say it they show it. it all has to do with the actions of the person do example ; would they be there for you if your grandmother died,would they get up even if they are tired to get u a glass of water.

When you tell him/her something that you like or don't like, do they take that seriously? If not, that shows lack of caring.

i.e. you tell him/her that you simply do not like comedy shows and that's what he/she plans for your next date, that's not a caring thing to do.

or if you tell him/her that you are passionately interested in learning a certain language and he/she laughs at the idea, that is not showing respect/caring toward you.
