It depends on what you mean. There are several things you can do to decrease your chance of being the victim of a violent crime;

Pay attention to your surroundings and the people around you everywhere you go.

Whenever possible, don't allow people you don't know to approach you or get close to you for no reason.

Learn to watch for suspicious actions from other people, especially people you don't know. There's a laundry list of things to watch for.

Try to avoid activities that are more likely to cause problems. While violent crime can happen any time of the day or night, and can happen in any area, it's statistically more common to be the victim of crime during evening hours, and more likely to happen in certain areas. Don't go to the ATM at 2 in the morning by yourself, etc.

Other things, not specifically crime related, might include:

Learn to ignore potential problems. For instance, if someone cuts you off in traffic or flips you off because you cut them off, let it go. Don't get into an argument or a fight over it. Ego gets a lot of people in trouble.
