Don't do it yourself and let it build up. Explain to her that she should be doing some, especially if she doesn't work. 'Modern' couples tend to split it 50/50 though I've always been for the women to stay at home and do pretty much most of it while the man is out working. I don't know the situation between the two of you, but here are some hints:

• If you've been married for quite a long time then your wife may be tired of the 'same old, same old' and you could suggest she join a club, gym or have a night or two out with her girlfriends. Even going back to night school, college is something that may lift her spirits or getting a job.
• Respect for each other. This simply means if a wife cleans the house and the husband and children come home and mess it up then it's up to each of them to clean up their own messes! Wives are not maids! We don't get paid enough!
• If you have children and she is picking your children up from school, going to doctors, etc., then how about helping her with some of the housework. You could do dishes together, perhaps make your lunch the odd time or make her dinner so she doesn't always have to taste her own cooking.
• Take her out for a night out to a restaurant and perhaps a movie or go to a night club with friends.
• Start socializing more and have friends over every second weekend.
• Have something for both of you to look forward too. Plan a small or big vacation and work towards it.

Your wife could be going through menopause (40 plus year of age) or she could have a thyroid problem or other health issues. Suggest nicely that it's time both of you went in for a physical and you can phone the doctor ahead of time without your wife knowing and let him know how your wife is acting. He won't tell her, but will know what to check for and will probably do a blood workup on her.

If your wife is on medications then it could well be the medication that is making her feel lethargic or depressed. Look up the medication on the internet and see what the side effects are.

Most importantly communicate with your wife on a calm basis. Start out with 'Hon, I'm very worried about you, how are you feeling? Just tell me what is bothering you and what you are really feeling inside and lets see if we can't get you over this.'
