It sounds like you are a teacher possibly being confronted by a frustrated parent. The big problem with the question, as phrased, is it attacks you as a teacher. That can get you angry if you take it personally. You'll need to calmly diffuse the situation, without attacking back. I'd calmly state, "I am here to teach. Though teaching uses some games as teaching tools, schools are not daycare centers that just let children goof off and play. Let me show you some of the subjects we've been working on. Here are some examples of your son/daughter's best work. He/she was quite proud of this. But he/she has had trouble concentrating lately and doesn't want to do his/her work. (or whatever problems the child has had). I was wondering how we could work together to motivate him/her..." Try to get the parents into a cooperative position where they see you as their and their child's ally, not enemy.
