Well you can first maybe apologise to him/her. Then you can ask him/her to maybe become friends again. Not like in a relationship or something if you have recently broken up but just friends. Trust me i have been there before and I broke the girl's heart. Then I went aand apologised and told her that our relationship just wouldn't work out and maybe we can just be friends again.
