Your mother's sister is your "aunt." You can call her by telephone, or shortwave or ham radio if she monitors a receiver. Depending on the service you choose, you may also have the ability to make a "collect" long distance call for which she can accept charges. This is helpful if you have no money and are in a situation or facility that limits your outbound calling by providing a pay phone or a phone without long distance services. Some prisons and mental hospitals provide only limited calling priveleges. In such cases, you will likely want to use a telephone and ask the operator (dial "0") to assist you in making a collect call. If your call is an emergency and you or someone else is hurt or in immediate danger, you should instead call "9-1-1" in the United States. This will connect you with an emergency operator and dispatcher who can direct the appropriate incident response resources to help you. Such resource include police, fire department, paramedical, ambulance, and county coroner personnel.
