There is no "easy" way; someone is bound to get hurt. It's best to do it honestly. If you're not interested in the person anymore, do not lead them on. Just explain that you want to break up or that your feelings have changed. Don't give that person false hope if you have no intentions of following through.

For example, if you don't want to talk to that person again, don't say, "We can still be friends!" or "Maybe we can work it out & try again."

If you want to break up, JUST break up.

Easing out of a relationship can be an extremely difficult and challenging process. Gradually distancing yourself from said partner, can be the easiest and more subtle way of ending a relationship.

Gradually allow yourself more space without them, by easily rejecting offers to go out, eliminating frequent conversations with them, and providing subtle hints at that you are no longer interested (For example, if they try to kiss you, tell them, "No, sorry, I'm not interested in anything romantic at the moment.", or, if wishing to be MORE subtle, "Sorry, I have a cold, and I don't want you to catch it.).

Eventually, your relationship will, unconsciously, unravell itself, or, in the end, all that will need to be said will be, "I'd like to stop this relationship," without any arguments or protests.
