I think the best thing to do is allow him to have the time to see what's happening to him right now and then take him out to keep his mind off the breakup. You could take him to a movie, park, out to eat etc., there are plenty of things to do when someone has gone through a breakup. Remember though to attempt to keep his mind off things.
