How do you know if you are a role model?

Do people (especially younger people) look up to you? Do they say (to themselves), "You are a good person. I would like to be like you." Young people growing up need good role models, to model themselves on. So, a young boy can model himself on his father, or some other male who he looks up to. Similarly, a young girl will model herself on her mother, or another strong female. A gay teenager can model on his parents for some things, but has to look harder to find good gay role models, to help him or her know how to act to be a good person.
