How do you politely ask your parents for an allowance?

Answering as a parent I would say if you have many responsibilities around the house, be sure they are getting done without your parents nagging at you before you ask. Parents hate being the bad guy as bad as you hate hearing them nagging at you. If you don't have any responsibilities, tell your parents you would like an allowance but you would like to do something for it. Ask what would help them out the most. Most parents are a lot more likely to want to help you out if you are acting responsibly.

Depends if your parents are tired its probably not the right time to ask. You want your parents relaxed and in good mood. But one thing if your asking for something super major then you should know you are on a scale on 1-100,and make sure you ask for something that your parents can afford so it wont make them feel bad that they can't buy it for you!

They are trying to teach you responsibility with money. No one get money for free and the money you get as allowance your parents has worked for so why not you? Doing chores is nothing compared to real working life. If you are smart you come up with examples of things to do yourself. That will please them and then you can add temporary things when you need more money. Then you always have a way to get extra money and the parents will be impressed. All this will come in handy when it's time to negotiate higher allowance.

Present them with the reasons you need the money and the ways you intend on earning it and/or paying them back. Simply asking for money rarely makes them want to give it to you.

Just ask nicely, and be willing to do extra chores for them. Money doesn't grow on trees, y'know!
