There really is no one way to do this, but I feel the best way is not to say anything, but simply keep giving him subtle impressions. Remember; actions speak a thousand words. Laugh or giggle when he says something in a joking way, even if you don't actually find it funny (but beware: obviously fake laughter can make things awkward), touch him more than usual (not necessarily in intimate places, just gently push or hit him on the sholder when he says something funny (combined with the giggle... guys quite fancy that)), lokk him in the eyes and smile when there's a moment of silence (this is a good one, since "just friends" wouldn't do this), stand close to him (even if it's not really crowded), and of course; when you feel the time is right: gently kiss him on the lips (this could be after looking him in the eyes while standing close together. Just remember to touch him elsewhere (like on his arm) before you go for the kiss). After this it'll be pretty obvious to him that you like him. Just telling him straight out can cause a lot of awkwardness which is like the last thing you want.
