Transactional analysis allows the classification of each "transaction" between people in a conversation into one of three types (parent to child, child to parent, adult to adult) and determine if these "transactions" resulted in successful communication or failed communication. It can also show inappropriate forms of communication that may be used that even though the communication may succeed, they are inappropriate for they type of relationship (e.g. a child that alway uses parent to child "transactions" even talking to older people is at least disrespectful and is likely a bully).
