You don't need any assets, per se. It's an income test. You have to show that you have 1.1 times the federal poverty level for the number of people who will be living in your home, initially (that's a minimum of two; you, and your fiance).
If you don't have that income, THEN you need to show enough assets to prove that you can support your fiance, financially, for three years (so, essentially, you need 3.3 times the federal poverty level for at least two people, in your bank account).
