If they aren't in their teens then I suggest you gradually introduce your girlfriend to the children AND SHOW no signs of affection towards each other while in front of the children. Keep your sex life in a hotel/motel and not at home. Children are smarter than you think. Teens are already in an emotional state re hormones, so I suggest sitting them down and telling them you are lonely and although you still love their mother dearly you need affection too and you have met a very nice woman. You may be surprised and the teens may accept her, but I'd nix hugging this woman or kissing her in front of the teens for awhile. Have her over for the odd dinner or go out for dinner with your children and new girlfriend. Do some fun things together. If your children have left home and have lives of their own then simply state you have found a woman you care a great deal about, but again tell them no one could possibly replace their mother, but life must go on. If they can't handle what you are telling them then too darn bad! Keep the girlfriend!
