How to know if your girlfriend is telling the truth?

If she explains too much, then it is a rehearsed answer. She is trying to convince you because she knows she is lying.

Check body language! If she exerts energy in her upper body, this is definitely a sign.

Also watch where her eyes go while she is speaking. Some well practiced liars can look directely into your eyes while they lie, but not too many are skilled at this. Otherwise, eyes down to the left or the right, a lie. Eyes level but looking to either side, still making up the story while telling the lie. Eyes straight down into her lap, not comfortable with lying but may be trying it anyway. Eyes looking right at you, honest or a practiced liar. If she's the latter, you will have had other clues.

Watch her body language. If she gets more emotional than usual about you confronting her then she could possibly be lieing. If You are looking at her face to face and her eyes break contact with your's and look down to your right (her left) then that is a big give-a-way that she is lieing. Also if she gets very angry with you about the situation then she could be lieing. Breaking eye contact and looking down to your left is a common conception when people lie. Most people break eye contact and look down to their left when lieing without even realizing it.
