Why are you trying to forget the person? The reality is that you are never able to "forget" a person, the memories are there and it is up to you on how to feel your way through them.
More than likely any thought or feeling in the beginning is usually full of anger, pain, resentment, some sort of unhappy emotion. That is good and okay. You need to process through them all to be able to say to yourself, "forget, forgive, whatever...I am better and have moved on mentally and emotionally".
And as much as I hate this trite b.s. and usually want to thunder punch people in throat when they say this BUT you will be better and smarter if you learn from whatever it may be that happened and try to not repeat it.
Know yourself and your expectations and the good will always show up!
