Being adopted dose not make it any different then being with your biological parents. They are your legal guardians so whatever laws apply to non adopted children applies to you. So wherever you are, find out what age you can legally be on your own and then proceed from there. I do believe 16 sounds a bit young to be on your own, but I haven't got a clue. 16 is really young to leave you family, so maybe talk to your parents?
Only if they have their parents' permission.
Once you reach the age of majority. Until then the parents get to decide where you live and they have put you where they want you.

In most places, a 15-year-old cannot legally leave their home and move in with another family member without permission from their parents or legal guardians. The legal age at which a person can leave home varies by location, but it is typically 18 years old.
In most cases, a minor cannot leave their adopted parents to go live with their biological parents without legal approval or involvement. The laws regarding custody, guardianship, and emancipation vary by state, so it would be best to consult with a legal professional to understand your rights and options in this situation.
Without parental permission you can leave at 18. Under 18 you will need your parents to give up their parental rights in order for your step parents to adopt you.
No more than a natural child of 17 can leave his or her home. Until the age of 18, juveniles are under the custody of their parents or guardians.
hmm... one is that your parents/guardian might leave the best stuff to you when they die. another is you get to be in charge of the younger ones when your parents are gone. another is you get to be the first in college and the first out of the house if you want! Anyone feel free to add more.
