It was really a fake episode. ..They were suppose to do another episode of the show, but the show was canceled due to the star Jaleel White's throat was getting sore from making the voice of Steve Urkel, and from him getting tired of playing the role. ...So what the producer did was took the scene from one epidode ( the one where steve passes out due to his appendix), and added the part where the actor Reginald VelJohnson (Carl Winslow) played LAPD Sgt. Al Powell from "Die Hard". ..So it looked like Carl Winslow shot Steve Urkel; but actually, he didn't. ..As for the part about Jaleel White being dead; it's all a bunch of rumour, publicity hoax. Jaleel White is still alive and living today (in 2010) at the age of 33 ; and is still an actor and screenwriter.
Steve Urkel from "Family Matters" is not dead at all. His real name is Jaleel White.
Oh, dude, no need to worry! Jaleel White, the actor who played Steve Urkel on "Family Matters," is alive and well. So, you can relax and go back to binge-watching those classic episodes without any existential crisis. Like, can you imagine if Steve Urkel was really gone? That would be a total bummer, man.
