No.

Answer #2

To answer 'no' would be like saying that the devil is saved. Yes it is important to confess yours sins to be forgiven. Otherwise you can not be free. It goes to say that to be a Christian you also must be baptized also. The first cry is to confess that we are sinners and to ask to be forgiven so we can begin a relationship with Jesus. Since we have unholy divisions in the Church Jesus began the truth is lost and there is now many conflicting doctrines as to how one should confess their sins. I would say that what Jesus said to the leper after being healed. Go and offer the sacrifice as commanded under the Law. So if you belong to some Christian Church do as they require under the Laws of your particular Church and confess your sins. Some will confess their sin to the whole church body. While some will confess to a priest and receive a special blessing and be told not to sin again. While others will spend many hours in prayer, or ask the Lord to forgive them of their sins.

Confession is compulsory for all Christians. If look very close to the Seven Petitions in the Lords Prayer you will one basic thing and that is Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. To forgive requires some form of confession, you need to admit that you are wrong and it is a sin to not forgive.

The first cry is always "repent and be saved" to repent is to confess, to convert is to change your way of living. I have found that the Lords Prayer opens so many doors for forgiveness, repentance and healing. I will never offer some theological answer in here as I never study theology. But reading scripture is an important step to understanding what is a sin and what one should confess.

Why don't Christians confess?

Protestant Christians do not believe it necessary to have confession as the Catholic church does. It derives from the scripture that tells us that if we confess our sins, God will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. But our confession is to God, not to the preacher/priest.

Is confession part of the episcopal church?

Yes, the sacrament of penance is one of the seven sacraments of the Episcopal Church. However, it is not obligatory. The general rule is: Non must go to Confession, some should go, and all may. It is done two ways. One is by saying a specific confession of sins prayer all together with the priest as part of the service; There is also private confession, which one goes to the Priest privately and confesses their sins and receives absolution. This is what most people think of when they think of 'confession'. We also believe all of your individual sins you should deal with God on your own time and be truly and humbly penitent and then be forgiven.

What is the significance of a general confession in the Catholic faith and how does it differ from a regular confession?

A general confession in the Catholic faith is a comprehensive confession of all sins a person has committed in their life, typically done before a major event like marriage or ordination. It differs from a regular confession, which is a more frequent and specific confession of recent sins to a priest. The significance of a general confession lies in the opportunity for deep reflection, repentance, and spiritual renewal before important milestones in one's faith journey.
