If he's much younger than your husband it might just be a nickname.

: Typically only two types of people call a man "daddy". The man's children, or the man's wife or girlfriend.

You do not say if your husband's friend is a woman or man. If a woman, then this could well be normal, but that would assume a romantic relationship.

If the friend is male, than this would not generally be regarded as normal. Bear in mind, it may well be that there is that same romantic relationship, and that is widely viewed as "natural"...but it is not widely viewed as "normal", as it is the exception.

There is a last possibility, which is the best one. It may be that your husband's friend simply has a private in-joke with him. And calls him "daddy" in a teasing fashion. This would still not be thought of as "normal", but would probably be better for you.

Asking your husband is your next step. A simple, "Hey, honey, why does your buddy Vern call you 'daddy'?" would suffice. If it's innocent, you'll hear a funny story. If he's defensive, then you may wish to reevaluate your relationship, and practice safe sex in the meanwhile.
