Today is Mother's Day. As a father of two incredible daughters and a son to a wonderful mother, this is a day I hold in respect for the mothers in my life. When I was a teenager I thought about my mother and all the things she had given to me as my mother; starting with my birth and then the countless things she did for me I searched for a way to thank her. She had given me life and carried me for those many months culminating with my birth. Considering what she had gone through the day she gave birth, I knew I had found what I wanted to say to her. My birthday is December 6th. December 6th is my mother's Birth Day. That first year I brought her flowers and a card made of my own hand which read "Thank you for the gift of life, Happy Birth Day Mom". She was momentarily confused but quickly understood. I celebrated my mother's Birth Day with her every year after that and when my daughters were born I passed that tradition to them as well. My wife has two Birth Days every year. It is a beautiful thing to see my daughtes celebrating their mother's Birth Day on each of their respective Birthdays. Mother's Day is set aside to recognize and thank our mothers. My mother and my wife are also recognized each year for all that they did on those incredible days that they gave birth; their Birth Days. Happy Mother's Day...
