The Bible refers to the 'sons of Aaron' both (1) in a literal, father/son way, and (2) in a more general sense, meaning the successive tribe all descended from Aaron (1 Chronicles 12:27), i.e. used in a collective sense, similar in meaning to the expression 'the sons of Israel'.

In the first sense, i.e. as the natural and immediate father, Aaron, with his wife Elishebahad, had four sons, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. (Exodus 6:23)
