Depending on the laws of your state it might be possible, although I would think that this would be a violation of administrative rules and not of criminal law. The REAL downside of doing this and being discovered however, is that you would be barred from seeing the inmate again, the person who's ID you used would be barred from seeing the inmate again, AND the inmate themself may suffer some type of sanction from the jail administration.
