The basic job responsibilities of a nanny are playing with the children, maintaining their general health and safety, and picking up after the children as they make messes throughout the day. Additional services that are common are transporting children to and from school and/or activities, house keeping, cooking for the family, pet care, as well as laundry. If you require additional services you should plan on additional compensation. For example: If you need a nanny to drive the children to after school practices, cook dinner, and vacuum and dust; you will have to pay her for gas (unless a car is provided) and an additional hourly rate for light house keeping. Now as far as what you can ask your nanny to do in general (without be offensive) the rule of thumb is: never ask your nanny to do anything you wouldn't ask your mother to do! Remember, this woman is in charge of your children and makes it possible for you to do what you need to do! Do NOT cut corners with her!
