Why would you? You don't think they know their own body? Maybe it is time to examine yourself and think why you would WANT to tell someone they are fat. Also, you by doing this, you may be opening yourself up for some criticism as well. Often, when you point out rude or obvious things, the person you are doing it to will take the opportunity to let you know that you are much less than you thought of yourself as well.

Same way as I tell you that you smell. You just don't. You will end up with in trouble.

If you want to tell her to lose weight, you should get her excited about activities that will make her feel good and make her feel good about it/have fun.

You don't tell anyone there fat. You don't tell the smelly guy he smells, you don't tell the short guy he's short. Everything is perceived as normal if it is able to function. Standards are abstract and if the fatness is ruining your standard, you should reconsider how you are to achieve your happiness. Maybe your **** or feel like a nothing and you just don't want her feeling superior or you feeling inferior in anyway. Either way you need to REALLY ask yourself what your goal is in calling telling someone their fat.

Just tell her the truth. Being fat is OK. there are a lot of fat people in the world, especially in USA. And there are a lot of fat admirers. Like BBW admirers, BHM admirers.

I tell her to use her best judgment and take a good long look at me. If she can't determine my girth at that point, I would recommend she break out a measuring tape. The first thing she should check is my waist. That usually will give her a good clue to answer her question, "am I fat". If that doesn't work, I would request to place my body weight directly on top of her, and check every 30 seconds or so to see if she is breathing. If she has stopped breathing, I can tell her without question, I am fat.

Edit: examine your relationship with her. If your so close, nothing can come between you, than give her your honest opinion, complimentary if no, and laugh if yes. You need to make sure if your answer is a yes that you make it sound as through it is not serious. NO mean laughing! If you guys are not that close then say, "no" or "I don't know, you don't really look like it, maybe check your BMI. ______ told me about this website that has a BMI calculator if you want to check. I think you're beautiful." BE NICE, and don't hurt her feelings if she sounded upset when she asked.
