I believe if he said something like He doesn't worry about you because you're a resourceful person, he might be indicating that he doesn't worry you wont be lonely you are resourceful == Answer= Ha! My N was always "reminding me" of how well off I was compared to him! As if I should feel guilty about it or something...Well, he actually DID get to me at one point. He used this as a tactic so he could get me to buy him things.(NOW I know this..ha!) He knows I hate to appear selfish. Will these people stop at nothing to manipulate? I think not. He is trying to absolve himself of any guilt as in :"You don't need me, you can take care of yourself." He wants you to feel sorry for him. Don't give in and give him the narcissistic supply he craves! Blow him off! I believe it's envy and suppressed rage that you are not completely dependent on him. Once my ex-N said in an angry, resentful tone, "I am happy you are in a good spiritual place". He wasn't happy at all. He hated my happiness or success IF it was without him which it was/is. He ONLY wanted good things for me if they reflected something good about HIM. If he wasn't in the picture, it meant it had nothing to do with him, and he hated that. Also, envy because I believe he knows deep down I have something that has alluded him. -AlwaysLearning == I agree. he deeply resents you are independent and resourcefull and is trying to punish you for, well... being YOU! I say good ridance and prove to him his own words are true for once. You are resourcefull. And smart enough to dump him like a hot potato.
