There could be a number of reasons for their action. They favour you above all others. They can see that you cannot help yourself and you need help. They put themselves out to help you, but at not inclined to do it for everyone in the same situation. Instinct could have had them do it. There may be danger in what they did and would be unlikely to face that same danger for anyone else. I suppose on of the most endearing factors could be that they liked you more than any other. As a last suggestion I would say that you had done something wrong and they would help you out of the fix you had gotten yourself in.
People do thjngs on the spur of the moment, not because they like or even know you, but what had to be done they did with no thought of reward.

When you like someone, there is something about them that attracts you to them and you want to be with them. If they don't like you, there is something about you that detracts them away from you. Anybody can change to please someone but if you change your personality just to be liked, then that's not really you. You have to decide if the change is worth it.
